Well Placed Misspellings In Ads and Mailers

This is such an interesting topic, and something I happened upon quite by accident. Have you ever received a full page solo ad e-mailer? And then did you read it? Or rather skim through it real fast, just to catch the gist of it? The majority of readers skim and don't ever hesitate until A) They don't understand a word B)The font on the page changes C) The size or color changes D) A Misspelled Word Atraks The Attention of the reader. What happens with a misspelling, is they stop and reread the line to make sure they read it correctly. Then they fault the ad writer for the lack of knowledge, THEN they read on to see if there are more! It actually slows the reader down by 50% or more and they actually pay attention. It rarely is effective until just before the middle or after in the ad. Remember that you gain their attention only briefly, so make the 1 or 2 words count.

Why We Drive On Parkways And Park On Driveways?!

Two Ads, same body can and will have different hit ratios with two different subject lines. We have an extensive amount of words in the English language, Use Them. The best advice I received was to step outside of the cookie cutter box, step back, evaluate a different way to market your site or product. Consider options that build a curiosity level and the visitor Must Click to see what you mean. What is Special about your site, different from everyone else? What do you like best about your site, something that you take for granted even? Start simple and write every idea that you can think of down, even the ones you think aren't that great. They could be inspiration for an outstanding ad later. My advice here is to look at everyone elses boring ads and do something else.

Your Personal Redirected URL Matters

Without one, you are a fish out of water. With sites like GoDaddy out there to help you every step of the way, All that is left for you to do is think of a clever site name, how catchy is google and yahoo? Again, how many words are there available to you in this wonderfully brilliant English language? They have NOT ALL been taken and you Can come up with a great one. Try hard to be able to find one that you could mention in passing, that won't readily be misspelled, that you could put a sign on your car and everyone must remember it. Take it one step further and make it fit your business, the area you want to market in, or ask a question with it. Look at these awesome web sites that (of course) are taken already, but maybe you will get the gist of it.

Wavecritter, Surfcritter, BerryH2O, WAHFreeTrial, GardenOfProsperity, OxygenBerry, WhoIsShaneWoods, WealthBuildersWeb, UberBerry, Muddog357, BestBerryTree, GoldElegance, MyIncomeVentures, AmazingSuccessSystem, ElmerC, BerryCritter, OneStarHealth, AirBerry, AffordableLite.

I hope by sharing these, you will get inspired to come up with a great one of your own.
A few other tips: Use dot com whenever you can, people might remember your site, but not dot net or dot info or dot whatever. They always do dot com first. Redirect and set to move permanent. Use your site name as your username everywhere. Get a matching email at gmail, yahoo, or other site. Own your name.

The subject line of an ad you place either online or in the newspaper has got to be the most challenging part of your ad content. By changing only one word, you can either go from 20 clicks to 100 or the other way around. Knowing this should not stop you from getting your ads out there though. I recommend trying them out on some free ad sites and tracking them (we will get into this more on another page) and seeing which ads first hit better, meaning you track just the number of clicks they get. Most free ad submission sites online track the clicks you receive for you. That is a great start, but we will get into actually tracking your page views and tour takers later. First lets start with your subject lines and are they getting the attention that you want. My article on this will be posted here by the weekend. ;)
